This board is built from white oak - the same wood used to make the bourbon barrels our state is famous for. These particular pieces were culled bourbon barrel cutoffs that are too short to become barrels but too beautiful to waste. Instead of being tossed aside, they were transformed into this handcrafted end-grain cutting board.
End grain construction is the gold standard for serious boards: it’s gentle on knives, incredibly durable, and shows off the mesmerizing “checkerboard” pattern of exposed oak grain. This board takes that pattern and elevates it further — with a clean juice groove and a continuous edge handle cut seamlessly into the underside for an easy, comfortable grip.
You can still see all the character that makes white oak perfect for bourbon aging: tight rays, strong grain, and warm natural coloring. It’s a piece of Kentucky history reimagined for the kitchen — a functional heirloom with a story built in.
